ABSTRACT:
This study was conducted with objective to assess the pre test and post test knowledge score regarding swine flu and to assess the effectiveness of health awareness programme in this study pre-experimental, one group pre-test post-test research design was used. Based on non-probability convenient sampling technique, after getting informed consent from the study participant, the health awareness programme was conducted. The study findings reveled that in pre test knowledge mean 14.84 and post test score was 20.64 mean percentage of pre test was 46.37 % and post test was 64.5 % and SD of pre test knowledge was 5.77 and post test was 4.14. Pre test knowledge (2%) were having excellent knowledge, (42%) having good knowledge, (34%) having average knowledge and (22%) having poor knowledge and in post test majority (12%) were having excellent knowledge, (70%) were having good knowledge, (18%) were having average knowledge and (0%) were having poor knowledge. The t-paired test value of knowledge is 5.8 and which are highly significant at p >0.05 which proves the effectiveness of health awareness programme.

INTRODUCTION:
Swine flu is an infectious disease caused by swine influenza virus. It is also called as pig flu, hog flu. Commonly found in pigs and people who have frequent close contact with pigs such as, farmers or veterinarians may catch a strain of the swine flu from pigs. It shows the symptoms after 3-7 days.
It spreads very easily and fast in a closed place. Fever, lethargy, lack of appetite runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and coughing are some of the following symptoms of swine flu in people.

Swine flu is an infectious disease caused by swine influenza virus. It is also called as pig flu, hog flu. It is a general term used for a variety of strains of influenza virus commonly found in pigs and people who have frequent close contact with pigs such as, farmers or veterinarians may catch a strain of the swine flu from pigs.
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia; 2015 Indian swine flu outbreak refers to an outbreak of the 2009 pandemic H1N1 virus in India, which is still ongoing as of March 2015. The states of Gujarat and Rajasthan are the worst affected. India had reported 937 cases and 218 deaths from swine flu in the year 2014. The total number of laboratory confirmed cases crossed 33000 marks with death of more than 2000 people.
As per the data the investigator found that there is increase in mortality rate among people in Durg, (C.G.) from the last year. There for researcher felt to decrease the mortality rate by swine flu at more affected areas.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
A study to assess the effectiveness of health awareness programme conducted by nursing students on knowledge regarding swine flu among people in selected rural area of balod, (c.g.)
OBJECTIVES:
1. Plan for health awareness programme.
2. To assess the pre test and post test knowledge score regarding swine flu among people in selected rural area of Balod, (C.G.)
3. To assess the effectiveness of health awareness programme conducted by nursing students on knowledge regarding swine flu among people in selected rural area of Balod, (C.G.)
4. To find out the association between pre test knowledge score of people with selected sociodemographic variables.
HYPOTHESIS:
H1:-
There will be significant effectiveness of health awareness programme on knowledge regarding swine flu among people in selected rural area of Balod, (C.G.)at 0.05 level of significance.
H2:-
There will be significant association between pre test knowledge score with selected sociodemographic variables. at 0.05 level of significance.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMWORK:
The conceptual framework was based on IMOGENE M. KING’S THEORY OF GOAL ATTAINMENT theory. An extensive review of literature was done and organized under different aspects related to general information regarding swine flu, prevention of swine flu and health awareness programme. In this present study Pre-Experimental one group pre test post research design was used. The research variable in this study is the effectiveness of health awareness programme on knowledge regarding swine flu among people in selected rural area of Balod, (C.G.)

RESEARCH DESIGN:
In this study Pre-experimental, one group pre test - post test research design was used to assess effectiveness of health awareness programme.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOOL:
The tools were used are under two sections:-
SECTION A:-
Deal with the Sociodemographic variable such as age, religion, educational status, type of familyand monthly income.
SECTION B:-
Deal multiple choice self structured questionnaires to assess the Knowledge regarding Swine flu.
PILOT STUDY:
The pilot study was conducted in 1 week to assess the feasibility of the study and to decide data analysis plan.
RELIABILITY:
This was found ‘0.95 ’which is reliable

Table No. 2 and fig. No. 4. Shows that 34(68%) subjects were labor, 8(16%) were businessmen,4(8%) were Govt. service and 4(8%) were not working.
RESULT:
The research findings shows that knowledge regarding swine flu, Health awareness programme pre-test total knowledge score was 742(1600), mean was 14.84, mean % was 46.37 % and SD is 5.77 where as in post-test total knowledge score 1032(1600), mean was 20.64, mean % was 64.5 % and SD is 4.19, therefore Gain % is 18.13%. Highly significant difference between the pre-test and post-test knowledge score of health awareness programme as calculated value 5.8, (df.49) was greater than table value 2.02 at 0.05 level of significance.
On analysis, it was found that two variables were association between pre test knowledge score of people with sociodemographic variables like educational status and Occupation. Other variables were not found association.
The finding shows that the health awareness programme will be effective for enhancing the knowledge of peoples.
LIMITATIONS:
· The study was 3limited to a sample size of 50.
· The study was limited only among community people.
· The study was limited only one group.
· The study was limited only to Gunderdehi, Balod, (C.G.)
· The time of span of the study was short.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
· A similar study can be replicated in a larger sample where the finding can be generalized.
· Comparative study can be done to assess the knowledge between urban and rural people.
· A similar study can also be done among pig farmers.
· A Similar study can be replicated in urban community.
· A similar study can replicated with a control group.
